Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends
It was a little quieter in the sixth form last week whilst Year 12 took part in their week of work experience. Although it was quieter for us, it was incredibly busy for them! They have been involved with a wide variety of roles which have included; marketing projects, accounts on multi-million budgets, social media posts, client calls, planning sustainable building projects and even fixing parts on Ferraris!
Mrs Hart and I had the pleasure of visiting students throughout the week and we were thrilled to hear such positive feedback about the professionalism, initiative and confidence that our students showed in their new roles. Some employers even asked if they could stay on for longer as they had been invaluable members of the team.

Well done to all our Year 12 students for such a successful week.
Now Mrs Hart is onto planning Year 10 work experience from the 15th-18th July. If you are able to host any students, we are always grateful for offers of placements. Please do email Mrs Hart at s.hart@holt.wokingham.sch.uk if you can offer any work experience for this date or in the future.
There is a great deal of time and effort that goes on behind the scenes starting from the beginning of the academic year into finding, securing, planning and completing all the administration for these placements. We want to say a huge thank you to Mrs Hart for all that she does to organise such a wide range of placements for our students.
The spring weather also decided to join us for the spring instrumental concert this week. The music department hosted an evening of duets, solos and orchestral pieces. We have such a range of musical talent at The Holt and just some of the instruments showcased were violins, flutes, guitars, harps and trombones.
There was also a farewell to Phoebe, Milly and Isobel in Year 13 as this was their final concert at The Holt. They have contributed so much to the life of the school, performed in too many concerts to count and been great extended members of the music department.

Year 7 and 8 also had the opportunity to show some different creative skills as the science departments KS3 masterclass was all about making their own lip balms and baths bombs. Students really enjoyed the experience and the masterclass was oversubscribed!
Year 11 and Year 13 are coming to their final days before study leave begins, there has been a lot of preparation for these year groups not only in getting ‘exam ready’ but also with NEA assessments, practical moderations, examiner visits, speaking exams and more. Well done to all of our students for everything they have achieved already, even before the public exams have begun! Also good luck to our Year 10 students who will be sitting their first POR exam this week.
