Travel Information

Getting to school

Students should take the utmost care when travelling to and from school, having regard for their own safety and that of others.

Walking to school

We encourage all our students to walk or cycle to school. Not only is it good exercise, it is also a social experience and encourages independence.

It is recommended that students coming to school on foot should not walk alone through St Paul’s churchyard or through Joel Park and should always use the pedestrian crossing when crossing the Reading Road. Students should not walk alone particularly during the Autumn and Winter when it gets dark early.

Cycling to school

To stay safe:
· We strongly recommend that all cyclists have passed a Cycling Proficiency Test.
· We strongly recommend that cyclists wear a safety helmet and reflective material on their coats in winter.

For your daughter/son’s safety we ask that they wheels their bicycle along Holt Lane rather than ride it.

School will not be held responsible for any loss whilst the bicycle is on the school premises, or any accident that may occur.

Driven to school

Parents / Guardians who bring their daughter/son to school by car are requested to drop off and pick up in Jubilee Avenue where the traffic is less congested. Please do not drive into the school grounds at the beginning and end of the school day and avoid dropping your daughter/son off outside the main entrances to the school on Holt Lane or St Paul’s Church Hall car park as it is used every day for community events.
Should you wish to delay your child’s collection from school, the school library is open until 4.30pm every day, apart from Friday when it shuts at 4.15pm, providing students with an opportunity to do their home learning in a quiet, supervised environment.

School and Public Transport: Buses /Trains

Students should follow any safety instructions issued by the transport company and behave in a sensible and pleasant manner towards all other public transport users. If property is left on any public transport the appropriate company should be contacted.

If you have a query with regard to bus passes, eligibility, timetable issues etc. please contact Wokingham District Council School Transport Section directly on: 0118 974 6280
